RIBBONS LABOR
RIBBONS LABOR: It is Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles where most people are gathering around, while the city is not so busy by walking weekly, it changes completely in the weekends, , and the places where usually fews people stay, suddenly liven up and turn into holiday places. Luigia Martelloni lives in Los Angeles and she watches this strange world going on around her through her European eyes.
It is Saturday and people are strolling along Melrose Avenue (Courage), Hollywood Blv. Around the famous Chinese Theatre (Creativity) , people gather at the Market (Compassion), to buy organic products, they hang out between restaurants and bookshops, in the village of Westwood or go to Sunset Plaza, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica…Luigia has mounted her witnessing photographs of one Saturday afternoon on a marble slates, the marble being symbols of history and Europe. Coloured ribbons are mounted on every single work. The fashion of our times wants in fact the beautiful people to gather in benefit parties, places where they can promote their work socially, reduce their tax charges and be part of an elite. Red ribbon again Aids, green for the salvation of Amazonia, any color is all right to find oneself in one’s own humanitarian deed.
Luigia describes in this exhibition sensations ranging from esthetical mourning to pure vital enjoyment, the continual wavering of contemporary consciousness between realism and ideal surrealism.
